Earlier this year I launched a new personal project that i've been dreaming up for some time now. I launched Branded—a website where I design fake identities for brands I wish existed.
The website is a place to exercise and exhibit my process for designing brand identities, and making fun ideas come to life while doing so. The past 5 years of my career I've spent time working with design consulting agency IDEO. During my time there, I worked on the most passionate and emotional work of my career. Most days, I spent all day on my feet talking with my team mates and clients while concepting on post-it notes and pinning up any and all inspiration around the room. When it was time to go to on screen and design, I was fueled with vision and purpose. I saw the magic of having a design thinking process, I saw the magic of research and strategy—I saw real magic happen there. The sad part about it all was, most of that magic never saw the light of day. The greatest part of it all was, I left each project a stronger designer with a more rooted design thinking process.
Branded became a place where I could continue to exercise those design skills but also be able to create non-sensitive content that I can share with you all.
